委員長挨拶 / Greeting from the Chair
学術の未来をソウゾウ（想像＆創造）する多様化する社会の様々な問題に対して、若手自らが議論し、意見を発信することは我が国の未来にとって極めて重要な事項です。2010年6月から約１年半の準備期間を経て、2011年11月4日に、日本学術会議「若手アカデミー委員会」が発足しました。
我々は「学術の未来をソウゾウ（想像＆創造）する」を合言葉に、日本学術会議内外との連携を図りながら、若手独自の視点から現状の分析を行い、これを基軸として若手をエンカレッジする活動を学際的、国際的に展開して参ります。こうした活動が学術界全体、日本全体を活性化する一助となると信じ、若手科学者という名に恥じぬよう議論を尽くし、且つスピード感のある対応を進めて参ります。
今後の若手アカデミー委員会の活動にどうぞご期待ください。

Imagine and Create the Future through Science
As scientists, it is of great importance that we take time to consider a broad range of social issues, carefully discussing competing views and available evidence, en route to forming our own opinions. In particular, we as young scientists must prepare vigorously to meet future demands. To accommodate this need, The Young Academy of Japan was established within the Science Council of Japan (SCJ) on November 4th, 2011, following a year and a half of planning.
We aim to promote active engagement among young scientists and SCJ collaborators—domestically, throughout Asia, and beyond—to encourage participation in global problem solving. Based on scientific evidence, we will analyze current issues and investigate solutions from interdisciplinary and international points of view. We believe that such activities will serve to energize Japan as a whole, thus preparing society to 'Imagine and Create the Future through Science'.
